SEE THE GAME.
OWN THE DECISION. COMMAND THE COURT.

Great umpiring is about far more than knowing the rules. It's about reading the game, recognising what matters, making confident decisions and managing the contest with consistency, composure and authority.

Netball X brings together passionate umpires, experienced mentors and specialist presenters for three days of practical learning, meaningful conversations and professional development.

The Umpire Development stream is designed to build confident, competent officials who understand not just what decisions to make, but why and how to make them.

Across three days, participants will explore the technical, physical and psychological demands of umpiring through interactive workshops, practical on-court sessions, match play, mentoring and collaborative discussion.

You'll be challenged to strengthen your understanding of positioning, vision, timing, interpretation and application of the rules, while developing the communication and game-management skills that underpin effective officiating.

But good umpiring goes beyond recognising infringements.

Netball X explores how umpires establish presence, manage players and coaches, navigate challenging situations and maintain focus and composure under pressure.

Practical application is central to the experience.

Participants will have opportunities to put their learning into action during match play, receive constructive feedback from experienced umpire mentors and reflect on their own performance.

The program will also explore the physical preparation required for umpiring, including movement, strength and conditioning, fitness and recovery.

Whether you're developing your foundations, working towards your next badge or aspiring to officiate at higher levels, Netball X is designed to provide the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to help you progress.

The Residential Experience takes that development even further.

Some of the most valuable learning happens beyond the formal sessions. Through shared meals, informal conversations and exclusive opportunities to connect with experienced coaches and mentors, the Residential Experience provides additional time to explore different perspectives, discuss challenging decisions and reflect on your development as an umpire.

It's an opportunity to immerse yourself in a community of people who share your passion for netball, build meaningful connections and develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between players, coaches and umpires.

Because understanding the game from every perspective makes you a better umpire.

Sharper vision. Stronger decisions. Greater confidence.

Your next step starts here.

Who is this stream for?

Developing umpires ready for their next challenge. A commitment to improvement is what matters!

The Netball X Umpire Development stream is designed for umpires who are passionate about improving their skills, building confidence and developing a deeper understanding of the game.

Whether you're an experienced club or representative umpire seeking to refine your decision-making, or an accredited umpire aspiring to progress further along the performance pathway, Netball X provides an opportunity to learn, reflect and grow.

Participants should hold a minimum National C Badge. Consideration may be given to umpires who have not yet achieved this accreditation, particularly those from regional or remote communities where access to formal assessment opportunities is limited. What matters is a willingness to learn, accept constructive feedback, challenge your thinking and take responsibility for your own development.

Participants should arrive ready to engage in both practical and theoretical learning, contribute to group discussions and embrace the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and fellow umpires.

Confidence is developed. Consistency is practised. Great umpiring is learned.
