Performance Program

Preparing Athletes for the Next Level

The NQNA Performance Program is designed for committed athletes who aspire to compete at representative, state, and high-performance levels.

Delivered over a structured 9-week term, the Performance Program provides an advanced training environment where athletes refine their technical skills, deepen their tactical understanding, and develop the physical and mental habits required to consistently perform under pressure.

This is more than a training program—it is an opportunity to experience the standards, expectations, and accountability of a genuine high-performance environment.

Who Is The Performance Program For?

The Performance Program is designed for athletes approximately 13–17 years of age who:
  • Demonstrate strong technical foundations
  • Are committed to improving their performance
  • Compete in club, school, or representative netball
  • Aspire to representative, state, or pathway selection
  • Are prepared to embrace challenge, accountability, and continuous improvement

Athletes should be motivated, coachable, and willing to consistently work outside their comfort zone.

Why Performance Matters

Talent creates opportunity.

Preparation creates performance.

The Performance Program is designed to help athletes bridge the gap between being a capable player and becoming a consistently influential performer.

Through purposeful training and expert coaching, athletes develop the skills, habits, and mindset required to perform confidently under pressure while preparing for the demands of representative and pathway netball.

Success at higher levels requires far more than technical ability alone—it demands discipline, resilience, decision making, leadership, and professionalism.

What Athletes Will Learn

Throughout the 9-week program, athletes develop advanced technical, tactical, physical, and mental performance capabilities.

Advanced Technical Development

Refine the details that separate good players from outstanding performers. Areas include:

  • Precision passing and receiving
  • Advanced footwork
  • Ball security under pressure
  • Shooting accuracy and consistency
  • Defensive contest work
  • Interception technique
  • Speed and efficiency of execution

Position-Specific Excellence

Develop the advanced skills and understanding required within each playing position. Athletes work on:

  • Position-specific movement patterns
  • Creating and denying space
  • Timing and combinations
  • Circle attack and defence systems
  • Transition responsibilities
  • Role clarity within team structures

Tactical Performance

Develop the ability to read, adapt, and influence the game. Learning includes:

  • Advanced attacking principles
  • Team defensive systems
  • Reading opposition strategies
  • Decision making under pressure
  • Match management
  • Tactical adaptability

High Performance Habits

Athletes begin training like high-performance athletes. Areas include:

  • Competitive training behaviours
  • Communication under pressure
  • Leadership
  • Accountability
  • Concentration and focus
  • Match preparation
  • Recovery and professionalism

More Than Just Netball Skills

High-performing athletes are also high-performing people. Throughout the Performance Program, athletes are challenged to develop qualities that extend well beyond the court, including:

  • Leadership
  • Accountability
  • Resilience
  • Confidence
  • Self-awareness
  • Professional habits
  • Emotional control
  • Commitment to continual improvement

These behaviours prepare athletes for success in both sport and life.

A Structured 9-Week Curriculum

The Performance Program follows a carefully designed curriculum that progressively increases in complexity and challenge throughout the term.

Athletes are continually encouraged to analyse, problem solve, adapt, and apply learning in increasingly demanding environments. Every session builds upon previous learning, reinforcing the technical and tactical standards expected of representative and pathway athletes.

Delivered By Experienced Coaches

Performance athletes are coached by experienced NQNA coaches with extensive backgrounds across representative, academy, state, and pathway environments. Our coaches challenge athletes to think critically, compete consistently, and develop the habits that underpin long-term success.

Every session combines technical excellence with purposeful coaching, ensuring athletes continue to grow both as performers and as people.

Preparing For High Performance

The Performance Program represents the final stage of open-entry athlete development within the NQNA pathway. Athletes who consistently demonstrate the required:

  • Technical execution
  • Tactical understanding
  • Coachability
  • Leadership
  • Commitment
  • Performance behaviours

may be identified for future High Performance Programs, representative opportunities, specialist initiatives, or invitation-only development experiences. The focus is not simply on selection, but on preparing athletes to succeed wherever their netball journey takes them.

Train With Purpose. Perform With Confidence.

The NQNA Performance Program is designed for athletes who are ready to challenge themselves, embrace higher standards, and pursue excellence.

Develop the habits.

Refine the details.

Perform when it matters.

Take the next step in your journey with the NQNA Performance Program.
